The QS Intelligence Unit has, through rigorous and independent data collection and analysis of performance metrics as set out in the QS Stars™ methodology, rated European University Cyprus as a Five Stars institution.
European University Cyprus has been ranked with an overall assessment of 5-Stars by QS TOP UNIVERSITIES (QS Stars University Ratings 2024). The QS Stars University Rating evaluates institutions globally on 50 different indicators and awards universities between one and five stars in a range of fields. EUC has received five stars for performance in the areas of:

QS Stars is a rating system that conducts a comprehensive and detailed evaluation of an institution examining numberous of indicators across sevral categories. Following the assessment, universities are awarded overall as well as sectoral star results, which range from 0 to 5 stars, depending on the number of points achieved through the evaluation.

This ranking places European University Cyprus in the top 3% of higher education institutions worldwide, underscoring its commitment to academic excellence, impactful research and innovative teaching. Assessed on rigorous performance indicators, this ranking reaffirms EUC’s commitment to excellence in Medical and Dental education and other health disciplines.

For the fifth consecutive year, European University Cyprus’ Times Higher Education Impact Rankings have seen improvement across all categories including Decent Work and Economic Growth, Reducing Inequalities and Good Health and Well-Being. Times Higher Education Impact Rankings assess universities on an annual basis in a range of categories that align with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) until 2030.

SCImago Institutions Rankings has positioned EUC third in Cyprus – the highest among the private universities – and in the top 786 universities worldwide in their 2021 rankings. In addition, SCImago Institutions Rankings has placed EUC in the top
- 807 universities worldwide in Medicine and third in Cyprus. 860 universities worldwide in Biochemistry, Genetics and Molecular Biology and second in Cyprus.
SCImago Institutions Rankings 2021 consists of more than 7,533 academic institutions and universities in Europe and across the world, making them the largest and most diverse university rankings to date. SC Imago Institutions Rankings Report is compiled by the SCImago Research Group, a Spanish based research organization which consists of members from the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and several reputable public universities in Spain.
The ranking is based on 13 carefully regulated performance indicators that measure an institution’s performance across four areas: teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.
European University Cyprus has placed Cyprus on the international and European map with the establishment of the first Science Shop in the country and one of 30 operating in Europe today. The Science Shop is a member of the International Network of the Living Knowledge International Science Shop. In Cyprus, the first Science Shop was launched at EUC through the PERARES European Research Program (Public Engagement with Research and Research Engagement with Society, 7th framework program). This community-based research entity operates on the university premises benefiting from faculty, students, labs and other facilities. In collaboration with social groups, the Science Shop offers scientific solutions to problems facing the Cypriot society and economy.
All degrees awarded by European University Cyprus are fully recognized by their respective professional organizations. More particularly, the Information Technology, Computer Engineering and Electrical and Electronic Engineering programs are recognized by the Cyprus Scientific and Technical Chamber; the Nursing program by the European Commission; the Radiodiagnostics-Radiotherapy program by the Cyprus Council of RadiologTechnologists and Radiation Therapy Technologists; the Nutrition and Dietetics program by the Cyprus Council of Food Technologists, Nutritionists and Dieticians; the Physiotherapy program by the Cyprus Physiotherapists and Physiotherapy Establishments Registration Council; and the Speech and Language Therapy program by the Association of Registered Speech & Language Pathologists of Cyprus.
European University Cyprus has been approved by the Magna Charta Observatory Council to become a signatory university to the Magna Charta Universitatum. This is a remarkable distinction as the charter codifies the principles of academic freedom and institutional autonomy setting guidelines for good governance of universities.
The European Commission has recognized European University Cyprus’ contribution to research excellence with the prestigious international award, HR Excellence in Research. The ’HR Excellence in Research Logo’ was awarded following a thorough analysis of European University Cyprus’ HR policies. These were shown to provide and support a stimulating and favourable working environment for researchers. This distinction places the university among the leading 392 global academic institutions.
European University Cyprus has become the first university in Cyprus to be certified as “A Great Place to Work®” for its excellent working environment and high-quality human resource management processes. This certification confirms and acknowledges the modernization of the university, not only as an academic institution and center of excellence, but also as an unparalleled workplace for more than 1000 employees. Improving the working environment and the workplace culture are constant strategic pillars of the University.
European University Cyprus has five-star ratings from the reputable non-profit EFQM based on the EFQM Model of Excellence. EUC has scored more than 500 points in areas of leadership, strategy, partnerships, and resources, processes, products, and services. This accreditation affirms European University Cyprus’ sustainability and its future course as a successful organization contributing positively to education, society and the business world.
