CERIDES to coordinate the OenoWatch Integrated Project in RESTART 2016-2020

CERIDES (Center Of Excellence in Risk and Decision Sciences), the first interdisciplinary Center of Excellence operating at European University Cyprus, will coordinate the implementation of the innovative project “OenoWatch”. This Integrated Project was submitted under the Restart 2016-2020 Program of the Research & Innovation Foundation, has successfully passed the 2nd evaluation phase and will be called to sign a research-funding contract.

The aim of the OenoWatch project is to study, develop, implement and pilot a holistic phytosanitary and plant protection system based on the use of unmanned aerial vehicles and a series of cutting-edge technologies, as well as the establishment of a Competence Center for Precision Viticulture.

The total budget of the project implementation amounts to €821,000 and is expected to generate a significant number of job positions for young scientists.

Dr. Christos Dimopoulos, co-Director of CERIDES, will act as the overall Project Coordinator of OenoWatch and together with Professor George Boustras, Director of CERIDES, and Dr. Pericles Cheng, Technical Lead of CERIDES, will form the core CERIDES management and development team for the implementation of the project.

It is noted that Restart 2016-2020 is the current national framework programme for Research, Technological Development and Innovation, which is co-funded by national and European funds.

The Consortium of the OenoWatch project also includes the Technical University of Cyprus (CUT), the consulting, services & training organization ‘DRONINT’, the consulting, & training organization EUROSUCCESS Consulting, the Limassol Development Agency, as well as the Cypriot Wineries Ekfraseis and Makkas.
