The President of the Greek Supreme Court visits European University Cyprus
Speaking at the third annual “Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure” conference held at the fully attended University Cultural Centre, President of the Greek Supreme Court, Vassiliki Thanou-Christophilou (who also chaired the conference) stated, “… European University Cyprus has justly earned its excellent reputation, which I ascertain first hand.” She further referred to the distinctions received by the University from QS TOP UNIVERSITIES (QS Stars) and more recently at European Union level from U-Multirank: “I wholeheartedly wish for your reputation and University ranking to keep increasing, because your contribution both within Cyprus and in Europe – and may I wish globally – is great”, the Supreme Court President said. Concluding her address, Ms. Thanou-Christophilou said that “distinguished Law scientists, Law professors, magistrates and Deputy Prosecutors of the Supreme Court of Greece are currently at European University Cyprus.
President of the Supreme Court of Greece, Ms. Thanou-Christophilou has also served as caretaker Prime Minister of Greece, as well as President of the Greek Association of Judges and Prosecutors (SAD).
European University of Cyprus Rector Kostas Gouliamos, on his part, welcomed the participation of such a prominent personality from Greece and added, “the legal culture is the cell of Democracy, and it is in this framework that this conference is being held”. The Dean of the Law School, Professor Iacovos Farsedakis also delivered an address, as did Supreme Court Judge Mr. Dimitrios Tziouvas, Deputy Public Prosecutor of the Supreme Court Mr. Harry Vourliotis, and five prominent professors from all three Law Schools in Greece.
