Posted: July 24, 2019

First Google-funded robotics technology seminar for secondary school teachers takes place at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of European University Cyprus.

Secondary School Teachers in Computer Science from Nicosia and Larnaca took part in the first Google funded seminar in Cyprus on robotics technology at the premises of European University Cyprus.

The seminar forms part of the technology giant’s worlwide CS4HS initiative and seeks to train computer science teachers across the globe on the principles of programming through the use of robotics technology. In Cyprus the seminar was led by a team of experts from the ICT-Enhanced Education (ICTEE) research laboratory of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of European University Cyprus and was based on the utilization of the Lego NXT robotic platform and the electronic platform Moodle.

The Director of the ICTEE Dr Maria Meletiou said the seminars would continue into 2015 and described the first event as a resounding success. The laboratory’s research team is headed by Mr Perikles Leng Cheng and includes Dr Georgios Christou and Dr Konstantinos Katzis.
