EUC hosts 3rd International Conference of the International Childhood and Youth Research Network
European University Cyprus hosted from June 10 to 12 the 3rd international conference of the International Childhood and Youth Research Network. The event which was co-organized by the EUC’s Center for the Study of Childhood and Adolescence and the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences was titled “Theory and Method in Child and Youth Research” and explored issues of knowledge production in Childhood Studies.
The Commissioner for Children’s Rights, Ms. Leda Koursoumba launched the conference which was attended by over 120 delegates (including academics, researchers, policy-makers, practitioners and students) from 33 different countries representing major universities and research centers from around the world. More than 100 presentations were delivered at the conference which featured keynote speeches by Jo Boyden, Professor and Director of Young Lives, University of Oxford and Dan Cook, Professor of Childhood Studies, Rutgers University, two leading authorities in Childhood Studies.
A third keynote speech was delivered by young people from the Youth Advisors Team of the Commissioner for Children’s Rights. The conference program included symposia, panels organized around specific themes, post-graduate student workshop sessions, poster presentations, and ethnographic film screenings.
