NICOSIA, CYPRUS (May 27, 2025) — The Cyprus Annual Medical Students Meeting (CAMeSM 2025), hosted by the European University Cyprus (EUC) School of Medicine, convened over 250 students from across Europe for a two-day international academic gathering that spotlighted student-led innovation, cross-border collaboration, and hands-on medical training.

Held on the EUC campus in Nicosia, CAMeSM 2025 delivered a dynamic program blending science, clinical skills, and career development. Professor Elizabeth Johnson, Dean of the EUC School of Medicine, opened the event by emphasizing the meeting’s role as “a forum by students, for students”—celebrating its power to inspire academic growth, international networking, and leadership in healthcare.

Dr. Popi Kanari, former Minister of Health of Cyprus, delivered a compelling keynote address encouraging future physicians to embrace innovation, ethics, and patient-centered care.

Students from universities in Cyprus, Greece, Poland, Romania, and Germany participated in eight student-led round table discussions spanning topics from neurosurgery to AI in IVF, alongside 27 research presentations and 11 interactive workshops. A hybrid format allowed students at EUC Frankfurt Branch to join key sessions virtually, expanding access and engagement.

Practical training included laparoscopic and suturing techniques, ultrasound and ECG interpretation, and a gynecology workshop using a 3D-printed uterus model. Future-focused sessions on clinical research, AI in medicine, and leadership development helped prepare students for evolving healthcare challenges.

Additional highlights included a “Meet the Expert” career panel, a CV development booth, and a public health fair featuring organizations like the Cyprus Red Cross and Amboss. The event culminated in a student-led blood donation drive, reinforcing CAMeSM’s commitment to social responsibility.

Powered by a custom mobile app and strong student leadership, CAMeSM 2025 delivered a seamless, forward-looking conference experience. The event reaffirmed EUC’s mission to support global medical education and prepare tomorrow’s healthcare leaders.
