August is the last month of the summer but at the same time the month that summer is celebrated at its maximum! In August we feel more calm, free and most of the times more Mediterranean while we have already gained that ‘’sun-kissed’’ color on our skin.
Spending your summer on an island is always a good idea, as being on an island means you have access to the beach. But it is even better when you are spending your August on a Mediterranean island like Cyprus!
Staying in Cyprus in August is like you are on holidays but without the extra cost of accommodation as you can stay at your place and at the same time experience every possible #SummerHappening taking place all over the island!
Let’s start our summer in CY! You may visit the cosmopolitan Limassol for a day trip. From a tour at the Curium, an ancient Greek city-kingdom which dates back to the 10th century BC and flourished between the 8th and 5th Centuries BC, to the luxurious beach bars for an all-day-long summer cocktail tasting and parties around the coastline of Limassol you experience an ultra-summer mood and vibe. Finally, for those who know like to explore new sports every time they visit Limassol, cycling is a great idea!
In case you are the adventurous type, a Jeep Safari in the Akamas area is what you need to beat the crowds and enjoy a day away from the city! Hike, swim, and otherwise take advantage of the wild scenery spread around you in this MUST visit natural summer destination!
Time to get that ‘’sun-kissed’’ color? The sandy beaches, crystal clear waters and picturesque spots in Ayia Napa and Protaras, are only a 45-50 min drive from Nicosia! The Sea Caves in Kavo Greko area near Protaras will make you feel like you are holidaying in an exotic island with its natural geological formulations – perfect for your #instapics and #instastories! (You may caption all your summer memories and recall the stress-free summer mood during the midterms in winter!).
After enjoying the natural beauties of the area you may move on to either of the Protaras and Ayia Napa downtowns to enjoy their multinational character and vibe amongst the summer venues, beach bars, and restaurants. These two cities are highly recommended – even for day-excursions – as they host several events every day during the summer for every taste!
And of course, our favorite capital – Nicosia! The multicultural and colorful old town of Nicosia is hosting plenty of cultural events during August. Most of them are worth a visit as they are tailor-made for everyone! From an open-air cinema to music and art happenings. Oops, and of course don’t forget to enjoy a drink after this cultural night out in one of the pop-up bars located in cool and cozy spots! You are a student and student have to have fun!
Living on an island like Cyprus, especially in August, is a great way to enjoy the last summer month and charge your batteries for the new semester!
